Tire Shack Brewery
Location: Moncton
Project Type: Limited Environmental Soil Investigation
Year: 2018
Our Limited Soil Investigation service helps identify potential contamination in specific areas of a property—especially during redevelopment, property transfers, or after a Phase I ESA flags environmental concerns.
This service is ideal for:
-
Properties with a history of commercial or industrial use
-
Sites with suspected petroleum storage or underground infrastructure (e.g., hoists, tanks)
-
Locations where unusual odors or previous reports suggest potential subsurface impacts
How it works:
We use targeted drilling and soil sampling techniques to assess conditions beneath the surface. Our certified environmental professionals collect and analyze samples for petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other parameters based on the regulatory guidelines in New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada.
There’s no need for the client to prepare anything in advance—we coordinate subcontractors, lab submissions, and all necessary reporting. In the event that contamination is found, we’ll guide you on how to handle and manage the materials in line with NBDELG standards.

Sydney Waterfront Campus
Location: Sydney, Nova Scotia
Project Type: Phase II ESA and Remediation
Year: 2024-2025
Our Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and Remediation service addressed historical tar contamination from a former asphalt plant near Sydney Harbour. This work was completed under the Nova Scotia Contaminated Sites Regulations to support the redevelopment of the NSCC Waterfront Campus.
This service is ideal for:
-
Former industrial or waterfront properties undergoing redevelopment
-
Sites with petroleum, tar, or asphalt related contamination
-
Locations requiring regulatory closure or environmental liability management
How it works:
We conducted drilling, test pitting, and groundwater monitoring to identify contaminants including petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and metals. Remediation involved removing over 1,400 tonnes of impacted soils and debris, followed by confirmatory sampling, shoreline cleanup, and stabilization with armor stone.
All work followed NSECC protocols (PRO-200, PRO-400, PRO-700), ensuring compliance and safe redevelopment for institutional and community use.
